Gym to Crag:
Outdoor Sport Climbing Clinic!

From sticking clips to taking whips - let's build that outdoor crag autonomy!

If you’re looking to shift your climbing from the gym and get outside for the summer, we have just the clinic for you. This clinic will get you on the sharp end and will work through the skills needed to climb outdoor sport routes. 

​

Rockbound Adventures is proud to partner with The Spot Climbing Gym to offer our Gym-to-Crag Outdoor Sport Climbing Clinic. Our clinics include an evening gym session of knot tying, anchor building and quickdraw placements, as well as two days of outdoor skills building in Clear Creek Canyon. Our experienced instructors are excited to coach you on the finer details of sport climbing and help you work towards autonomy at the crag.

  • Cost: $550/person. 4:1 participant to instructor ratio

  • Participants: 

    • Minimum of 2 participants required

    • 8 people cap

  • Recommendations for participation:

    • 3+ months roped climbing experience

    • Lead Certified at The Spot Gym or another gym

    • Familiarity with basic climbing knots and sport anchors

Female Climber

Day One

Friday 6-8pm (2 hours)

Location: The Spot Louisville. 

​

Topics Covered: Review of knots. Anchor building review - QD’s & the Quad. Quickdraw placements. Anchor cleaning. Perhaps lead climbing practice?

Day Two

Saturday (8 hours)

*Start times and exact locations will be announced 48 hours before the course*

Location: Clear Creek Canyon - East Colfax, Warner Bros crag, Other Critters, Cat Slab, etc.!

 

Topics Covered: Hazard assessment and risk management. Reading a guidebook. Identifying crags and routes. Gear review. Crag etiquette. Tyrolean traverse crossings. Lead climbing. Anchor cleaning.

Sunday (8 hours)

*Start times and exact locations will be announced 48 hours before the course*

Location: Clear Creek Canyon - East Colfax, Warner Bros crag, Other Critters, Cat Slab, etc.!

​

Topics Covered: Stick clips (first clip/on route). Top access & risk managment. Perhaps fall practice?
